F1 Imola Qualifying: Alonso Crashes in FP3, Verstappen Secures Pole
Verstappen Claims Pole Position
Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing claimed pole position for the Imola Grand Prix after a thrilling qualifying session. The Dutchman set the fastest lap time of 1:15.553, edging out Ferrari's Charles Leclerc by just 0.269 seconds.
Alonso's Heavy Crash in FP3
Earlier in the day, Fernando Alonso of Alpine crashed heavily during the final practice session (FP3). The Spaniard lost control of his car and crashed into the barriers at high speed. The impact brought out the red flags and halted the session. Alonso was taken to the medical center for checks but was later cleared to participate in qualifying.
Eliminated After Q1 and Q2
Several drivers were eliminated in the first and second qualifying sessions. Nyck de Vries of AlphaTauri and Logan Sargeant of Williams were knocked out in Q1, while Esteban Ocon of Alpine and Pierre Gasly of AlphaTauri were eliminated in Q2.
