In a pulsating encounter, Rajasthan Royals (RR) edged out Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 6 wickets in the 8th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

RR captain Sanju Samson won the toss and opted to field first. The PBKS openers, Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan, provided a solid start with an 83-run partnership. However, RR bowlers came back strongly, dismissing both openers and reducing PBKS to 107/2. Jonny Bairstow and Liam Livingstone then steadied the innings, adding 77 runs for the third wicket.

In reply, RR got off to a disastrous start, losing both openers for just 10 runs. However, Devdutt Padikkal and Sanju Samson rebuilt the innings with a 104-run partnership. Padikkal scored a brilliant 69 off 48 balls, while Samson remained unbeaten on 55 off 43 balls.

With the win, RR moved to the top of the IPL standings with 4 points from 2 matches. PBKS, on the other hand, remained at the bottom of the table with 0 points from 2 matches.
